The King’s School Chester

Wrexham Road, Chester, Cheshire, CH4 7QL

Coloured Bar

Brief

Having previously worked with The King’s School Chester to develop their infant play area, we were
then asked to work on their junior area! We jumped at the chance as the existing space was a great blank canvas and we had lots of exciting ideas of how to completely transform the playground.

Design

The King’s School Chester had expressed a desire to brighten up the area and add something adventurous and challenging for it’s KS2 pupils. With such a big area we thought one of our impressive fort tower systems would be perfect. Our vibrant Fort Apache was selected for the area to ensure large numbers of children could use the equipment at once as well as explore their adventurous side on the wide variety of play features.
Blue and Green Playtec was selected for the Fort Apache to add some colour to the area. Along with the fort we installed Wetpour Safety Surfacing to ensure the play area met BSEN 1176/1177 safety requirements and to allow for all-weather use. With adding inlaid colour splashes around different elements of the tower this added even more colour to the playground and really brightened up the surrounding school area.

Installation

Installing such a large tower system is always a challenge, one we grasped with both hands!
This was a very exciting project to work on as our Fort Apache is one of our biggest pieces of equipment; one we installed efficiently and smoothly.
The Wetpour Safety Surfacing was a fun design to have incorporated and a real challenge to have overcome.
Overall a great playground development to be involved with!
