Share a Story: World Book Day 2019

Coloured Bar

World Book Day has landed again and this is the 22nd year of celebrating!

Every year schools, nurseries and parents join together to encourage children to appreciate reading and explore the pleasures of books!

To do this, the World Book Day Charity send schools (including those nurseries and secondary schools that have specially registered to participate), packs of Book Tokens and age-ranged World Book Day Resource Packs (age-ranged into Nursery/Pre-School, Primary and Secondary) full of ideas and activities, display material and more information about how to get involved in World Book Day.

Reading is a crucial part of a child’s development and growth and provides tonnes of benefits including improvement in concentration, vocabulary and language skills, exercise the brain and develops a child’s imagination – most importantly it is FUN!

In light of World Book Day, during National Story Telling Week we gave away one of our Story Telling Areas to one lucky competition winner during our time at the Edsential SBM Conference in February.

Hillside Primary School in Birkenhead won the Storytelling Area via a live draw and we have managed to install the equipment in time for World Book Day which was perfect!

To prepare for the upcoming event, Hillside Primary School had a very special outdoor story time, during which the children chose their favourite character to dress up as!

Their new Storytelling Area is a huge hit with both the teachers and children! They absolutely love it and now have the perfect place to celebrate World Book Day!

If we have inspired you and you are looking to add an outdoor Story Telling feature to your school, don’t hesitate to contact us on 01244 375627 or email [email protected]
