Rhyl Rugby Club Playground Opening
Last week we had the pleasure of attending the playground opening at Rhyl Rugby Club after transforming a blank grassed area into a play facility which includes a Jigsaw Play Tower, a Basket Swing and 2 Spring Riders.
The project was undertaken in memory of former player and coach, John Hardy, who passed away suddenly at the end of 2018.
Club members joined forces with John’s family & friends to raise funds for the project through a variety of activities such as the 3 Peaks Challenge, donations from supporters, club members and local businesses and organisations, grant funding and a dinner hosted by Wales and British & Irish Lions rugby legend Ryan Jones.
The end result is a magnificent facility which features slides, climbing, swinging and springing, all in an enclosed area with safety flooring.
Club Chairman Tony Evans said “we are all very proud of this addition to our community club which is a lasting memorial to John who is greatly missed”.
We caught also caught up with Dai Roberts, Rhyl Rugby Clubs Sponsorship Director, who had the following to say…
“I am just absolutely blown away with the way it has all come together. So many people have worked so hard for such a long time to do something in memory of a great, great old friend who was taken away far to early. Just watching these kids enjoying them selves now makes it all worthwhile. Thank you to all at Creative Play.”
This was an amazing project to have part of and we will enjoy seeing children enjoying the play area for many years to come.
