Enhancing Outdoor Play at Wildridings Primary School, Netherton, Bracknell

Wildridings Primary School has enhanced its outdoor play provision with the installation of a bespoke quad jigsaw tower, complete with an artificial grass finish to create a vibrant and inviting play environment.

Designed around our popular Makalu play tower concept, this custom structure takes inspiration from Mount Makalu, the fifth-highest mountain in the Himalayas. As part of the quad tower range, the platform is four times larger than that of a standard jigsaw tower, creating an impressive elevated play space reminiscent of a traditional treehouse.

Constructed from high-quality timber, the tower encourages adventurous and imaginative play while supporting the development of balance, coordination, and social skills. With its spacious design and unique features, the bespoke Makalu-inspired tower provides pupils with an exciting focal point for outdoor learning and recreation.

Project Objectives

The school wanted to enhance its outdoor play area with a striking and engaging feature that would encourage active play, imagination, and social interaction. The bespoke quad jigsaw tower was designed to create an exciting focal point within the playground, providing pupils with a unique space to climb, explore, and play together.

Design Challenges & Solutions

The project required a custom-designed structure that complemented the existing playground while maximising play value. Based on our Makalu play tower range, the bespoke quad tower was carefully tailored to the available space, incorporating a platform four times larger than a standard jigsaw tower and an artificial grass finish to create an attractive and inviting environment. The design balances adventure and accessibility, offering a variety of opportunities for physical and imaginative play.

The completed installation has transformed the playground into a vibrant destination for outdoor learning and recreation.
