The image below showcases the impressive before-and-after transformation of the outdoor space at Lake House School, highlighting how the new facilities have created a more engaging and versatile environment for pupils to enjoy.

Lake House School wanted to enhance an existing concrete area and create a vibrant, engaging outdoor environment for pupils with special educational needs. The aim was to introduce a variety of opportunities for active play, creativity, social interaction and exploration, while making better use of the outdoor space.
The new development has created a more stimulating and versatile playground, giving pupils different ways to play, be active, express themselves and enjoy time outdoors. The combination of physical, creative and social play opportunities also helps make the space suitable for a range of activities throughout the school day.
The challenge was to create a versatile outdoor space that offered different types of play and activity while making effective use of the available area. Through careful planning and positioning of the equipment, the design creates distinct areas for physical activity, imaginative play, creativity and quieter outdoor experiences. The inclusion of the chalkboard and whiteboard also provides opportunities for creative expression and outdoor learning, while the Octavia Shelter and planters introduce a flexible space for pupils to enjoy.
The completed outdoor space has created an engaging and versatile environment where pupils can be active, explore, play and develop confidence through a variety of experiences. The Jungle Climber Combi encourages physical activity, climbing and coordination, while the MUGA provides a dedicated space for sports and active play. The chalkboard and whiteboard encourage creativity, communication and outdoor learning, while the Octavia Shelter with planters creates an inviting space for quieter activities and interaction with nature.
Together, the new facilities provide Lake House School with a diverse outdoor environment that supports physical activity, creativity, social interaction and exploration.
