The Role

Creative Play UK, are a well-established leading designer and manufacturer of high quality Children’s Playground Equipment, with the Head Office based in Chester, and have been in operation since 1991.

Due to an increase in business, we are looking to recruit a new team of playground installers. Ideally, we are looking for people who have experience in a similar role, however grounds work experience will be considered as full training will be given. The role consists of some groundwork and mainly the installation of wooden and plastic playground equipment, although at time maintenance work will be required. This role is working in an outdoor environment at all times, come rain or shine.

Our customers are mainly schools, leisure facilities, Parish Councils and are located throughout the country, this is why there is a requirement to stay away from home 4 nights per week is essential, and the location will change weekly. As some of the work will be within a school environment a valid DBS check is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of a playground installer include, but are not limited to:

  • Installation, maintenance/repair of playground equipment including trim-trails, all weather surfacing, in schools, leisure facilities, Parish Councils and more around the country in line with current safety standards.
  • Communicating with customers and the office throughout the installation.
  • You will need to organise the site to ensure it is efficient and safe for staff and children.
  • Travelling around the country, staying out 3-4 nights per week every week ensuring all installations are completed within set time scales.
  • It is essential that you are happy to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Undertake work related training courses as required to meet the requirements of the role.

The Benefits

  • Monday 7:00 – 17:00 & Tuesday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00 on site (this does not include driving/travelling to site).
  • Salary is circa £26k, which is reviewed at the end of a successful probationary period.
  • An additional subsistence allowance is provided.
  • 20 days of paid annual leave + 8 bank holidays. Holidays increase in line with service, up to a maximum of 5 additional days, and we automatically give you an additional 3 days during the Christmas shutdown each year.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Playground Installer are:

  • Hard working and reliable – driven to get each job done well.
  • A team player who can think on their feet and problem solve and also work on their own initiative.
  • Self-motivated and trustworthy.
  • Previous experience in usage of power tools, timber, and other materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail & accuracy.
  • Candidates must have good problem solving and communication skills.
  • A full clean UK driving license is essential.
  • CSCS card is required.
  • DBS is essential – due to the nature of the role.
