Customer Objective:
Larkhall Primary School’s main aim was to upgrade both the main playground and EYFS area, improving the outdoor environment with new surfacing and a wider variety of play opportunities. The additions were designed to support physical development, sensory exploration and interactive play across different age groups.
Playground Development Challenges & Solutions:
The redevelopment focused on creating more engaging outdoor spaces for pupils of different ages, combining physical challenges with interactive and sensory activities. Climbing features such as the Jungle Climber Micro, Rope Bridge and Zigzag Beam introduce opportunities to develop balance, coordination and confidence, while the Rope Walk and Leap Frog encourage children to move, negotiate obstacles and test their abilities.
Alongside these physical challenges, interactive playboards and sensory equipment bring another dimension to the playground. Cogs, the Busy Board and Maze encourage hands-on exploration and problem-solving, while the Noughts and Crosses and Shapes boards provide opportunities for shared games. Sensory features such as the Rainwheel Playboard and Bells add sound, movement and curiosity to the outdoor experience.
The EYFS area also benefits from playful finishing touches, including a blue horse spring rider and red dragon spring rider, offering younger children imaginative experiences within their upgraded space.
