Dacre Village Hall in Cumbria worked with Creative Play to upgrade its ageing playground, creating a refreshed outdoor space for children and families. The new facilities include climbing equipment, swings, sports features and interactive play units, offering a wider variety of activities to encourage physical development, imaginative play and community recreation.

The aim of this project was to upgrade the existing playground with a varied selection of equipment, creating a more engaging outdoor space where children from the local community could play, explore and spend time together.

Following consultation, Creative Play assessed the area and developed a solution combining physical challenges, sports and interactive play features, providing children with more opportunities to build confidence, develop physical skills and socialise through play.

Creative Play developed a varied play space incorporating equipment for different interests and play styles. The Helvellyn Jigsaw Tower and Oakmere Activity Centre introduce climbing and exploration, while the double swing and basket frame encourage shared play. Bespoke basketball, target and goal features provide opportunities to practise coordination and ball skills, complemented by a tractor spring rider and spinner. A picnic table creates a practical place for families to sit together.

The upgraded playground gives children a refreshed outdoor environment with a wider choice of activities, from climbing and swinging to spinning and playing ball games. The combination of active equipment and seating creates opportunities for children and families to enjoy the space together, supporting physical development, social interaction and community recreation.
