Customer Objectives

The school’s aim was to introduce a wider variety of outdoor facilities to support different types of play and learning. By combining activity equipment, playground markings, sheltered space and a mud kitchen, the project provides pupils with more opportunities to stay active, express their creativity and play together.

Playground Development Challenges & Solutions:

The project focused on introducing colour and variety to a predominantly grey concrete playground while creating more opportunities for different types of play. The Dart Activity Centre, installed on artificial grass, provides a focal point for active play, while the blue wetpour surfacing and bespoke playground markings, featuring sea creatures and the school logo, bring colour and personality to the space.

Beyond active play, the hipped roof shelter provides a covered area for outdoor activities, while the larger corner mud kitchen encourages imaginative role play. Together, these additions help break up the grey surroundings and create a more inviting playground with activities to suit different interests.
