Sebright Primary School

Sebright Primary School wanted to develop their Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 areas, creating separate zones that would accommodate large groups of children. This was to achieve a reduction in playground incidents & to maximise on staff supervision. They also wanted to promote a mixture of play based learning as well as increasing their sports facilities.

DESIGN
Sebright had two playgrounds to develop both of which offered a blank canvas, allowing us to be creative with the design and layout. Our Fort Riley went into the KS1 playground to provide challenging, physical play for the children. We finished this with blue wetpour which was laid around the equipment to provide a safe, all weather use play surface. Benches were included to provide seating for breaks and lunches as well as an Octavia Shelter to act as an outdoor classroom.

As PE and Sport was a big focus on this project we also added a Ball Catcher into the design. In Key Stage 2 we carried on the sports theme by adding TARGET panels including football and cricket as well as Muliti Court thermoplastic markings. To mirror the KS1 area we added our Fort Henry which provides plenty of play value. The area was finished off with blue mulch surfacing and an additional stretch of artificial grass allowing plenty of space for play. We also added vibrant and bespoke thermoplastic markings.

INSTALLATION
This was one of the largest Creative Play installations to date. Due to the scale of the project and the fact that the work was carried out during term time, we worked in tandem with the school to ensure efficient planning was achieved on site. We had to ensure the work was carried out safely and efficiently keeping a close eye to make sure the quality remained to a high standard. The planning procedure worked well and the installation was brought in on target and to the correct quality standards.

The new equipment and playground surfacing transformed the school playgrounds from areas where the children had minimal play value, to areas with vast play and physical activities, catering for all age groups within the school. The finished result was amazing and highlights the quality of Creative Play products and installations. The teams on site deserve great credit on this installation, they worked tirelessly and are a credit to Creative Play.
