Heaton Park Primary called in Creative Play to help develop their early years foundation stage outdoor area. They had a blank canvas and wanted some ideas of how best to utilise the space whilst covering all areas of learning and development. After visiting the school and talking with the staff it was agreed they needed to resurface the area wanted to add Trim Trail equipment, staging and seating. We presented Heaton Park Primary with a detailed proposal that met their tailored requirements based on . Our vision was to create an inviting environment that promoted all areas of play and was fun for the children.
The challenge at Heaton Park was to create a functional play space that was aesthetically pleasing and inviting for the children. The current playground was prone to flooding so the first challenge was to create a solution to this so they could best utilise the play area. We created a surfacing design that transformed the playground into an all-weather play space whilst providing a much safer play environment. We used a mixture of rubber mulch and wetpour and incorporated a roadway design into the surfacing to further promote active play and outdoor learning. Trim Trail items were added to complement the existing equipment and encourage physical play. Within the design we also utilised an unused grassed area by adding a Story Telling Chair and Mushroom Seating perfect for outdoor learning as well as providing a social area for playtime.
We picked this contract up after numerous attempts from previous companies to make the area accessible all year round. The area was susceptible to flooding and was basically a mud bath due to multiple failed attempts. The area has been transformed into a fully functional, all year round all weather play area that meets all of the schools needs. Once again Im very pleased with the speed, quality and expertise of our installers and surfacing teams. Another job well done that will serve well for years to come.
