About PE and Sports Premium Funding

We have listed details about the PE and Sports Premium funding below to help you understand further and guide you with what is to be achieved with the funding.

Purpose of Funding:

Schools must spend the funding on improving their PE and Sports facilities.

The Concept:

The idea of the funding is to ensure all children attending school have the correct facilities in place to gain the skills and knowledge required to set them up for a healthy lifestyle.

The Aim:

To achieve self-sustaining improvements in the quality of PE and Sports in Primary Schools. The Government expects improvements such as increased engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity, the profile of PE and Sports to be raised across the school as a key indicator for a whole school improvement, increased confidence and knowledge of all PE teachers and increased participation in competitive sports.

Accountability:

Schools will have to explain how they have spent their funding within the school and how this has improved the provision of PE and Sports. The Government have stated that the OFSTED inspections will be altered to correctly track the effectiveness of the funding.
