Glendale Holiday Park contacted Creative Play looking to create a big visual impact on entry to the park and were very open to ideas. The existing equipment was over 10 years old and they wanted it to be removed and replaced with equipment that would give a real ‘WOW’ factor.

The holiday park wanted to create a main play area for all children as well as a toddler area for younger visitors. Within the main playground we incorporated an impressive 7 tower Jigsaw Play System. This was accompanied by a selection of Trim Trail items, including a Clatterbridge and Swinging Log, along with a Double Flat Seat Swing. The toddler area consisted of a smaller 2 tower Jigsaw Play System along with several Spring Riders, Playboards, including Cogs and Motor Play panels, as well as our Double Cradle Seat Swing. A Basket Swing was set in-between both areas allowing children of all ages to use and enjoy.

With the area now catering for children of all ages and abilities, Wetpour safety surfacing was laid in different colours across both areas to add a touch of vibrancy as well as to suggest separation between the two play zones. The Wetpour safety surfacing also allows for all-weather use and ensures the play area meets all BSEN 1176/1177 standards.

As Glendale Holiday Park is a working business we had to ensure we kept the safety of the public as a main priority whilst causing a little disruption as possible. Working closely with the holiday park, we managed to complete the project within the timescales specified and the customer is now extremely happy with the final development. The park now has an inviting holiday feel and provides a great ‘shop window’.

THE BRIEF

Friends of Copythorne were looking to create a new playground for the children of the community after completing 18 months of fundraising. The requirements were clear, they wanted a playground that would be designed to provide a stimulating environment covering all aspects of play; swinging, siding, balancing, climbing, rotating and bouncing!

THE DESIGN

As the requirements were so specific on this project, we had to make sure we ticked all the boxes in providing a design that created the environment requested whilst ensuring the area met all BSEN 1176/1177 standards.

Within the design we included a Jigsaw Play Tower to provide the majority of the play aspects requested including Sliding, Balancing and Climbing. The tower was suitable for a wide age range ensuring there was an element of play for everyone. We added several swings sets to add the swinging element, a Spinner, for the rotating element and a sunken trampoline for the bouncing element. In addition to the above, we provided a Balance Trail, timber seating and Wetpour safety surfacing to allow all-weather use and ensure all BSEN standards were met. The Wetpour safety surfacing was laid in black with contrasting coloured shapes to add an extra touch of vibrancy.

THE INSTALLATION

The timelines on this project were very specific as the access was through the Parish Hall. We worked closely with Friends of Copythorne to ensure the project was installed efficiently and within the timescales.

Overall the blank area was transformed into an area children can enjoy for many years to come!
